Jeanne Shaheen Statement on Release of President Bush's Budget
"The budget blueprint released by President Bush today continues to lead our country down the wrong path. With unemployment on the rise and a recession around the corner, the President has laid out a budget that would add to the burden of middle class families and seniors on fixed incomes. The President's budget does nothing to address rising energy costs and exacerbates rising health care costs with further cuts to Medicare and Medicaid. Congress should not follow President Bush down the road of fiscal irresponsibility, hiding the cost of the Iraq war and adding to his record deficits."
