Concord--State Sen. Joe Kenney (R-Wakefield) officially filed for governor with the Secretary of State today.
The three term senator will be challenged by incumbent Governor John Lynch (D-Hopkinton) in November. Kenney is the only republican in the race for governor.
According to the Associated Press, Kenney said Lynch has led a spending spree in Concord that is setting the state up for an income or sales tax.
Lynch plans to file for re-election this week. He would be seeking a third term as governor.
The filing period ends Friday.

"As a life log Republican, I am saddened by the fact that Cullen could not find a candidate that is strong enough to give Lynch a run for the money. I know Mr. Kenney and salute him for running, but he simply does not have the public speaking skills, charisma or following to successfully challenge Lynch. And a quick purview of his voting record will reveal that he sits well with the RINOS, as when he sided with the Democrats and against law enforcement recommendations and voted for a unenforceable speed limit bill for Lake Winnpesaukee, mainly at the complaint of a group spearheaded by Massachussetts tourists and out-of-state landowners. Oh well, at least Joe will make a pretty good sacrificial lamb!"

Joe Kenney for Governor
Why is progressivism all about taking more money and more rights away from people?
How does a hapless newspaper editorial writer feign ignorance of what it means to "turn NH into Massachusetts"?
There is nothing progressive or welcome about what is happening with the current legislature.
There is nothing popular about putting NH in debt and ruining the state's credit by overspending and consequently attempting to raise every existing tax and/or create a ton of new ones.
There is nothing progressive or prudent about hiring new-age gurus (at what cost?) to further dumb down our schools, into some of which we pump as much as $20K per student per year and then whining about educational funding..
This path of destruction must stop. The Democrats are throwing us further backward into an economic and social mire. True progress would be doing more with less, which is something Democrats will never ever it seems, understand. We need to return the care of 11-year olds to their parents when they are in need of serious surgery.
And what kind of idiots think and income tax will replace property taxes? This whole idea is totally laughable.
Joe Kenney is off to a great start. He is 'NOT LYNCH'. He gets an A+ rating from the NH Liberty Alliance for his fiscal conservatism and his mindfulness of the fact that government does not own the people or its children.
Reality check: Lynch does not have a 120% popularity rating just because some liberal rags say so.
I think Joe is a candidate we can all stand behind, GOP, Libertarians and Independents alike.
