Manchester's only free daily newspaper is becoming a weekly paper.
Starting last Thursday, Manchester Daily Express, will now be published every Thursday.
The move was announced in a front page message from the publisher.
"Converting the paper to a weekly allows us to continue to bring local news to the community, but in a format that's more sustainable as a business model in Manchester," said Jody Reese, publisher of Quality of Life Publications of Manchester.
As a part of the change the paper laid off two employees and shifted other staff positions.
The publisher also owns the weekly paper, The Hippo.
