Former Portsmouth Mayor Steve Marchand has started a political consulting company called The Marchand Group.
"The goal of the company is to provide services to political entities, grassroots group, advocacy organizations and help them with everything from message development, grassroots organization and fundraising," Marchand, a Democrat, said.
Currently, Marchand is the only employee but he would like to expand overtime.
"Short-term I'm the only full-time employee but as the work develops I want to grow the business and include the young professionals in New Hampshire, which there is no shortage of."
Marchand, who ran for the U.S. Senate before abandoning his bid, said he has not ruled out a return to elected office.
"Will I run for office in the future, probably yes, but right now I'm focused on 2008 and helping party candidates," Marchand said. "Right now I'm investing time in helping candidates and they party in 2008. I'm helping town committees to get engaged down the ticket."
