McCain supporter announces independent congressional run
By Brian Lawson, PolitickerNH.com ReporterFremont resident Peter Bearse has announced that is launching an independent congressional challenge to Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester).
Bearse made the announcement in a press release on the website NH Insider.
"It is also a time of extraordinary opportunity for the nation to make real changes. In this time of uncertainty for the major parties, Independent candidates will generate unprecedented voter interest. I am among their number," Bearse said.
During the New Hampshire primary Bearse served as Republican U.S. Sen. John McCain's Fremont Town Coordinator and is the Fremont Commissioner on the Rockingham Planning Commission.
"I'm running as a change-agent to enable Americans to push real change for a better future," Bearse added.
He said his goals are to "bring back people-based politics," end the influence of money in politics, create an efficient Congressional Office and form a ‘Change Congress' caucus of U.S. Representatives.

McCain supporter, but...
not supported by John McCain. That needs to be made abundantly clear. What Peter is doing, even if he means well, is harming the Republican party's chances of knocking off the incompetent horrible Carol Shea Porter! Peter needs to fight it out in the GOP primary with Jeb and John, or just write another book. He won't get more than a few hundred votes...but those are votes that would have gone to the Republican.
I applaud Mr. Bearse
I applaud Mr. Bearse for taking issue with what is happening in this country, and running for office is a patriotic thing to do, rather than sitting around complaining. Unfortunately Peter seems to have confused the problems in this country with those who have had little or nothing to do with them. Carol Shea Porter was definately from the people, I know, I was one of them. My family are all military. I grew up on military bases, met my husband at Pearl Harbor when he was in the Navy. What this bunch in Washington (I would have called them Republicans, but Bush and his eik are NOT Republicans) have done to the honor of this country, can not be undone. They are a disgrace. One can only hope that Republicans rid themselves of the hate and war mongers.

He had intended to run in the primary but was dissuaded by conservative Republicans who wanted to make sure Bradley got knocked out.
