Hodes defends Obama tax plan ahead of McCain visit

Before John McCain visited his Congressional District today, U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes (D-Concord) held a national conference call with reporters arguing that if elected, Barack Obama would reduce taxes for the middle class.

"I wanted to dispel the notion that he is increasing taxes on everyone because it is simply not true," Hodes said.

McCain is making his second trip to New Hampshire today since clinching the Republican presidential nomination. He will hold a town hall meeting in Nashua.

Taxes and the economy have dominated the week of presidential politics.
