NH DEMS REPORT SUCCESSFUL FUNDRAISING IN 2007

NH GOP puts out call for help

(Concord)- In a year end report to be filed with the FEC by January 31st, the New Hampshire Democratic Party will report that it has raised $1.3 million dollars during 2007, and has a total of $259,000 cash on hand. In sharp contrast, the NH GOP raised $291,000 over the year and has only $90,000 left.

"It is a tough environment for the NH Republicans to be raising money," said Pia Carusone, Party Spokeswoman. "The first $25,000 in the door last year went to the Democrats to pay for the illegal phone jam of 2002. That is not an enticing message to donors, or voters for that matter."

According to the new political blog www.politickernh.com, the NH GOP has put out a call for help.

Brian Lawson for www.politickernh.com , Jan 23rd: "The New Hampshire Republican Party is in the process of adding additional staff members to their operations. Currently the Republicans have four full-time staffers, compared with the New Hampshire Democrats who have twenty staffers. In an e-mail distributed to various political consultants, New Hampshire Republican Chairman Fergus Cullen wrote, 'These positions include both management level positions as well as entry level field jobs, and some in between.'"

"Considering New Hampshire has some of the country's most exciting elections this year, Fergus' call for help is certainly telling," Carusone noted. "Just as it's hard for him to raise money with the cloud of scandal that hangs over the NH GOP, it must be hard to attract good staff. It is continually clear that the Democrats message of fiscal accountability and responsible governance is resonating with Granite Staters."
