Photographers Examine Social Change in Art Exhibit

MANCHESTER- A collaboration among various organizations has led to the creation of an art exhibit called "The Art of Politics: Documenting Social Change."

The exhibit features political paraphernalia from past New Hampshire primaries and stories of Granite State citizens dealing with issues ranging from the Iraq war, homelessness and health care.

Hosted by Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), the exhibit is a joint effort between The Concord Monitor, The New Hampshire Political Library, the New Hampshire Institute of Art and SNHU.

Meryl Levin, a photographer and adjunct professor at SNHU, said she wanted to organize the project because of a desire to promote issues affecting New Hampshire citizens.

"The stories you see here are the stories of your neighbors," Levin told a gathering of students.

Levin added, "these issues exist in our communities."

Katlyn Morin, a SNHU senior communications and graphic design major, argued that young people would have an impact in the upcoming election and beyond.

"Young people will make a difference," Morin said.

Morin developed a video project that focuses on a couple dealing with the stress of a loved one deploying to Iraq.

The exhibit, hosted in SNHU's Robert Frost building, runs from January 18th until February 14th and features thirteen stories.
