The POLITICKERNH.COM POWER LIST 2008 identifies New Hampshire’s 50 most politically influential personalities. In developing our list, we eliminated anyone who currently holds elected office, as well as judges. We also eliminated the living former Governors and United States Senators: we believe that all former statewide officeholders remain highly influential and well respected. This is an Insiders List. We looked at policy makers, party leaders, fundraisers, lobbyists, labor unions, businesses, and associations and have assembled the ultimate list of New Hampshirites with clout, with an impact on politics and government in the Granite State.

You left one very important name off this list - Bill Siroty. He may not be a power player in the arena but all those who are read his daily NH News Links.
During the Presidential Primary season, the "Links" are the bible for in and out of state reporters. Among Bill's most influential followers: Marc Ambinder, Chuck Todd and Elizabeth Wilner just to name a few.

Media influence on politics
I have to say that I am somewhat unsettled by the amount of media people on this list. I am not disparaging these individuals, I am worried that the level of power to set the political agenda that the media now wields is bad for our democracy.
As we move toward Obama becoming the first media-selected President, we need to evaluate just how much power we want to allow the media to have in picking our candidates through the suppression of negative stories and outright cheerleading via the news.
