State Senate passes education amendment

By a vote of 19-5 the New Hampshire State Senate passed a constitutional amendment that would allow the state legislature to direct education funding to specific cities and towns.

"I applaud the Senate for passing a constitutional amendment with broad bipartisan support that will allow New Hampshire to direct education aid to communities with the greatest needs," Governor Lynch said in a statement.

Eight Republicans and eleven Democrats voted for the amendment.

The amendment now goes to the House for a vote. Last year, the House failed to pass a similar amendment.
