Statement of Jeanne Shaheen on Jay Buckey's Decision to Withdraw from Senate Race
Manchester, NH – Former Governor and US Senate candidate Jeanne Shaheen today issued the following statement regarding Jay Buckey's decision to withdraw from the US Senate race:
"Through his determination, eloquence, and enthusiasm, Jay Buckey showed on the campaign trail that he has much to contribute to this state and country, and I hope he will stay involved in political life. Over the past six months Jay brought attention to the urgent need for a smart national energy plan that ends our reliance on foreign oil, reverses global warming, and creates good "green collar" jobs. Defeating John Sununu will be no easy task, so having Jay's support in this great effort to change the direction of the country means a great deal to me."
