Shea-Porter Stands Up to Big Oil Companies,

Supports Critical Energy Legislation

Washington, DC—Late last night, Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter stood with American consumers by voting in favor of critical energy legislation.  The Comprehensive American Energy Security and Consumer Protection Act will increase domestic oil production, expand renewable energy, and end subsidies to big oil companies.  The bill passed 236-189.

After Taking Over $230,000 in Campaign Cash from Big Oil

Sierra Club Calls New Sununu TV Ad Misleading

Concord, New Hampshire—The Sierra Club today expressed concern about the level of influence money from Big Oil is playing in John Sununu’s campaign. The environmental group is drawing attention to figures from the non-profit, non-partisan Center for Responsive Politics that reveal that John Sununu has taken over $230,000 in campaign cash from the oil and gas industry.

Both former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury) and U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley) held conference calls with reporters Thursday to discuss various energy issues.

The National Sierra Club has begun airing a television ad that criticizes U.S. Sen. John McCain's (R-Ariz.) energy plan. The ad buy was first reported by PolitickerNH.com earlier this week.

The Sierra Club has also been airing a radio ad that defends U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester).

(Manchester, NH) - As Memorial Day kicks off the official start of summer driving season, New Hampshire residents face an astonishing record $3.86 average per gallon of gas -- a more than 250% increase since John Sununu took office in the Senate six years ago. In those six years, Sununu has fought hard to protect tax giveaways to oil and gas companies and to prevent measures to bring down the price of gas.
