(Portsmouth, NH) – Today, former Governor and current US Senate candidate Jeanne Shaheen toured the warm mix asphalt facility at Pike Industries in Portsmouth and discussed her commitment to fighting to protect New Hampshire jobs.  Under George Bush and John Sununu, New Hampshire residents have been paying more into the Federal Highway Trust Fund than they have been getting back and the fund has become dangerously close to going broke, jeopardizing millions of dollars in New Hampshire projects and thousands of New Hampshire jobs.

Letourneau Joins New Hampshire Leaders Call for Federal Highway Funding Fix

 

Federal funding key to important projects to Derry, Windham and Hampstead

 

CONCORD – State Senator Bob Letourneau (R-Derry), who represents the towns of Derry, Windham and Hampstead, joined other state leaders today in calling on Congress to address the pending shortfall in the federal highway trust fund (HTF).  Experts predict that New Hampshire could lose as much as $52 million in federal highway funding starting in October if Congress does not pass legislation to shore up the HTF.

Concord, NH--- Congressman Paul Hodes, Speaker Terry Norelli, Senate President Sylvia Larsen, Senate Transportation Chairman Robert Letourneau, House Transportation Chairwoman Candace Bouchard, and Derrick Hill Vice President of New Hampshire Operations for Pike Industries joined together for a press conference today calling on Senator Judd Gregg to end his opposition to transferring $8 billon to the Federal Highway Trust Fund which would result in $52 million in funding for New Hampshire’s roads. The measure passed the US House of Representatives on a bipartisan vote last week.
