Hodes to spend day in D.C.

U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes (D-Concord) will take a day off from the campaign trail to attend a congressional hearing in Washington,  D.C.

Hodes congressional office has announced that the freshman congressman will participate in a hearing of the Government Oversight and Reform Committee where Hodes will question economic officials on the current financial crisis.

Horn says ‘Hodes responsible for economic crisis’

Congressional candidate Jennifer Horn (R-Nashua) issued a press release that said her opponent has done nothing to deal with the current economic situation.

Horn said that U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes (D-Concord) has accepted $141,000 in campaign donations from financial service companies, which resulted in Hodes "looking the other way." The Hodes campaign responded that Hodes has fought for "tighter regulation and oversight."

Shaheen comes out against bailout bill, again

Former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury) said she does not support the financial bailout bill working its way through Congress. However, she told The Conway Daily Sun in an editorial board meeting, after her first debate against U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley), that she was "inclined" to support the bill.

The Shaheen campaign said that Shaheen remains opposed to the Senate version of the bill because it lacks oversight regulations.
