Mayor Frank Guinta announces study committee to examine sex offender laws in Manchester

MANCHESTER (May 9, 2008) – Today, Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta formed a study committee to examine the city’s sexual predator ordinances in order to strengthen the laws that protect residents. This is in response to previous efforts by citizens to get such laws passed in Manchester.

Mayor Frank Guinta announces special Aldermanic and School Committee meetings

 

MANCHESTER (May 5, 2008) – Mayor Frank Guinta announced there will be two meetings on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, to address the Board of School Committee’s budget appropriation for Fiscal Year 2009. The first meeting will be a joint meeting of both the Board of Mayor and Aldermen and the Board of School Committee and will begin at 5:30 p.m., with a separate special meeting of the Board of School Committee meeting to immediately follow. Both meeting will be held in the Aldermanic Chambers, One City Hall Plaza, Manchester.

Scannell named NH Dems ED

The New Hampshire Democratic Party has named David Scannell their new Executive Director.

Scannell recently was the center of controversy when Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta said he should resign from the School Department because Scannell voted in favor of a bill that would have decriminalized marijuana.

Lynch v. Kenney looking more likely

When Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta decided last week to pass on the race and focus on Manchester the search went out quickly for another candidate.  Names from the past such as Chuck Douglas, Steve Merrill and Charlie Bass were tossed around, but none of them appear to be interested.  While Merrill is letting his name be tossed around, most believe that is to keep his name in the public eye for 2010 in case US

Wieczorek to hold fundraiser

Executive Councilor Ray Wieczorek (R-Manchester) will be holding a fundraiser on Thursday, May 22, 2008.

The fundraiser will take place at Manchester's The Yard restaurant and speakers include former Governor Craig Benson, Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta and Executive Councilor Ray Burton.

"In his three terms on the Executive Council Ray has served the constituents of this District well. Working to assure fair and open bidding, to maintain a close watch on State contracts, and to protect the taxpayer's interests has been the hallmark of his service. Now, more than ever, we need Ray's watchful eyes and ears working on our behalf," the fundraising appeal states.
