Forget the horse race, watch party ID

While I'm curious whether my colleague Andy Smith's next Granite State Poll will confirm recent Rasmussen and ARG polls, another number buried deep in the crosstabs may prove of more lasting value.

"Party ID," or the way that respondents identify themselves to pollsters, will give us an early indication of whether 2008 could be a "correction election," in which New Hampshire voters move back toward the Republicans after a big Democratic year; or whether voters simply pick up where they left off in November 2006.

Expect 'More of Same' with McCain, Says Dem Party Chair


 
(Concord) -The recent plunge in consumer confidence among New Hampshire residents is directly attributable to "the failed economic policies of the Bush administration," according to Raymond Buckley, chair of the New Hampshire Democratic Party. Buckley was reacting to a poll released today by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center that found consumer confidence in the state to be the lowest in 7 years.

Bush, Iraq war remain unpopular in NH

President George Bush, and the Iraq war, continues to remain unpopular among Granite State residents.

Only 28 percent of New Hampshire adults approve of the job Bush is doing and 69 percent disapprove, according to a new Granite State Poll, conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center.

Poll shows residents unaware of budget problems; plurality favors legalized gambling

A poll conducted by the University of New Hampshire shows residents are largely unaware of the current budget problems facing the state.

According to the Granite State Poll, conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, 17% said they have heard a lot about the state budget, 59% say they have heard a little and 23% said they have heard nothing at all.

Lynch enjoys 73% approval rating

Governor John Lynch (D-Hopkinton) continues to enjoy a high approval rating from New Hampshire residents.

According to The Granite State Poll, conducted by The University of New Hampshire, seventy-three percent of adults favor the job Lynch has done so far. Only twelve percent disapprove of Lynch's performance.
