When Space Shuttle Columbia Astronaut Jay Buckey decided to run for US Senate, his home town state Senator Peter Burling never jumped on board.  Burling went one step further and stated publicly there needed to be a draft Jeanne Shaheen movement.

Buckey, Weatherspoon named NH Dems Convention co-chairs

Jay Buckey and Jackie Weatherspoon have been named the 2008 Democratic State Party Convention co-chairs.

The co-chairs are involved in planning the convention.

"Jay and Jackie were chosen as co-chairs because they represent the grassroots of the New Hampshire Democratic Party," said Democratic Party Chairman Raymond Buckley in a statement. "Our conventions are focused on empowering local Democrats to effect change in their community and Jay and Jackie will ensure that we succeed in that goal. I am grateful to their contribution to our party and look forward to working with them in the coming weeks."

Cohen still paying for failed 2004 campaign

Former New Hampshire State Senator Burt Cohen (D-New Castle) continues to pay for the illegal activities of his former campaign manager.

The former state senator ran for the United States Senate in 2004 but abandoned his bid after it was discovered his campaign manager, Jesse D. Burchfield, falsified fundraising numbers.
