McCain appoints Maagero state director

Ashley Maagero has been tapped to be John McCain's New Hampshire state director.

During the primary Maagero was a regional field coordinator for Merrimack and Strafford counties.

Maagero previously worked in Massachusetts politics and her hire was first reported by the site "Red Mass Group."

McCain toasts Granite State voters

Republican presidential candidate John McCain (R-Ariz.) made a toast to the people of New Hampshire at Time's annual gala honoring "the most influential people in the world."

"I'm informed that it is the custom to toast someone who has influenced our lives. In that case, please raise your glass to the discernment and probity of the people of New Hampshire," McCain told the audience.

AFL-CIO to canvass Manchester

The AFL-CIO will be canvassing Manchester on May 17th.

The canvass is part of a drive to reach 200,000 union members nationwide and make them aware of John McCain's economic record.

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, supporters from various Democratic presidential campaigns gathered today to launch “Unity 08,” a push to put a Democrat back in the White House.

The effort is aimed at highlighting John McCain's record.

Former Party Chairwoman Kathy Sullivan, State Rep. Terie Norelli and State Sen. Sylvia Larsen represented the Clinton campaign. Ned Helms and State Sen. Martha Fuller Clark represented the Obama camp and State Sen. Peter Burling represented the Edwards campaign. State Party Chairman Ray Buckley was also present.

(Concord) - Democratic leaders from the various New Hampshire presidential primary campaigns joined together today to launch an effort to bring change to the country by electing a Democratic president in 2008, and to expose John McCain's record as top a Bush cheerleader on Iraq, the economy, and other key issues.

UNH Poll shows McCain beating Clinton, Obama

McCain is beating Clinton 47%-44% and leading Obama 49%-43%, according to the latest the Granite State Poll, conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center.

"McCain's current lead over both Obama and Clinton is clear evidence that candidates matter in elections and that elections are not always determined by the mood of the country," said Andrew Smith, Director of the UNH Survey Center. "These results also show why political parties want to end their nomination processes quickly, both Obama and Clinton have been hurt in New Hampshire because of their ongoing nomination struggle."

Presumptive Republican nominee John McCain is preparing for another NH visit in mid-June. John McCain is coming back to NH for his second visit since the First In The Nation Primary for one reason. Because we still have the current Electoral College System.
