Kenney to Lynch: ‘I'm a New Hampshire guy and I'm going to take you on’

NASHUA-- At about 9 p.m., the Republican nominee for governor, state Sen. Joe Kenney, declared his victory and addressed a boisterous crowd of supporters.

"I am so proud to accept the Republican nomination for governor in the state of New Hampshire," Kenney told a crowd of about 75 in a conference room at the Courtyard Marriot.

Kenney, who was unopposed in the Republican primary, faces two term Gov. John Lynch (D-Hopkinton) in the general election. Lynch defeated retired school teacher Kathryn "Katy" Forry (D-Jaffrey) Tuesday night. She had challenged Lynch to give voters a choice over an income tax.

CONCORD-At the ending of a press conference Gov. John Lynch (D-Hopkinton) was asked whether he knew anything about his primary opponent, Katy Forry (D-Jaffrey).

"I only know what I've read in the newspapers. I don't believe that I've ever met her," Lynch said.

WMUR'S Close-Up focused on Manchester potentially increasing parking fees and "air quality action days."

The Union Leader's Scott Brooks and Manchester's parking manager Brandy Stanley discussed the impact of changing the Queen City's parking fee structure. Sullivan said she would be reaching out to businesses to explain the potential changes and over the long-term the changes would have a positive impact on the city. Brooks explained that there was almost no discussion among the Aldermen and said "I think there's going to be some grumbling at first, but there's a lot of components so it's confusing."
