Telegraph endorses Horn

The Nashua Telegraph has endorsed its former columnist in the 2 Congressional District Republican primary.

The Telegraph cited national trends in endorsing Jennifer Horn, a former op/ed contributor for the paper.

"In any other election year, a congressional candidate whose primary credentials consist of raising a family, writing a newspaper column and hosting a radio talk show would be the dark horse. But not this year," the newspaper's editorial board wrote.

Politics, earmarks don’t mix paper concludes

This year New Hampshire's congressional delegation requested money for 107 earmarks however The Nashua Telegraph finds that campaign donations played almost no role in the earmarking process.

"Earmarking" is when a member of the U.S. House or Senate specifies certain money of the federal budget go to a specific project. The process has come under scrutiny after several House members were convicted on corruption charges relating to earmarks.

Horn rakes in $75,000

Second Congressional District Republican candidate Jennifer Horn (R-Horn) will report raising between $72,000 to $75,000.

"We feel very good about this kind of start from someone who didn't get into this race that long ago,'' campaign manager Zack Condry told The Nashua Telegraph.
