Today in the U.S. Senate race

Editors note: This is a daily summary of news about the U.S. Senate race between U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley) and former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury).

While all eyes were focused on Unity, the national parties each mentioned the Senate race in a press release. Also, the Shaheen campaign announced it raised $54,152.50 in the past 24 hours.

NRSC takes aim at Shaheen record

The Executive Director of the the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) has penned an op-ed criticizing Jeanne Shaheen's (D-Madbury) gubernatorial record.

"Shaheen's political career is marred by duplicity, flip-flops, and political pandering that put the residents, especially the students, of New Hampshire last. Perhaps, instead of first, a better qualifier to define Shaheen's tenure is failed," Scott Bensing wrote at Towhall.com.

Today in the U.S. Senate race

The U.S. Senate race is developing into a regular routine.

Jeanne Shaheen will host an event and the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) will issue a press release or a new web video criticizing Shaheen. Today was no different.

This afternoon, in Salem, Shaheen began her three-day "Middle Class Matters" tour and the NRSC issued a new YouTube video on Shaheen.

Ensign hopes for pro-Sununu 527s

National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman John Ensign (R-NV) said he hopes Republican 527s will help U.S. Sen. John Sununu's campaign.

"We're hoping, we obviously can't ask them but we're hoping that 527s come out on the Republican side and come out and help John as well to try and equalize or diminish what the Democrat 527s are going to do," Ensign said in a conference call with reporters.
