DEBATE DOUBLETALK:  SUNUNU DODGES QUESTION ON SOCIAL SECURITY PRIVATIZATION DESPITE OVER A DECADE OF SUPPORT FOR PRIVATIZATION IN WASHINGTON

(Manchester, NH) – In today's AARP debate, John Sununu tried to dodge a direct question about whether he supports Social Security privatization, despite the fact that Sununu has spent over a decade in Washington pushing for the privatization of Social Security.  When asked if he supported privatization, yes or no, Sununu would not say "yes," despite the fact that as recently as two weeks ago he defended privatization during the Business and Industry Association debate at St. Anselm College.

Social Security focus of U.S. Senate debate

BEDFORD--Social Security and the future of the program took center stage in a Senate debate between former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury) and current U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley).

In the debate sponsored by the AARP, Sununu said he has offered a plan to make Social Security solvent for future generations, while Shaheen questioned plans to privatize the program in light of the stock market's decline.

Update: Dems attack Bradley on Social Security ahead of AARP debate

The New Hampshire Democratic Party sponsored a conference call criticizing former U.S. Rep. Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro) position on Social Security.

State Sen. Lou D'Allesandro (D-Manchester) and Steve Gorin wanted to know if Bradley supports the privatization of Social Security.
