Dems to keep control of House, with smaller margin

In year in which Democrats won by significant margins in statewide races, House Democrats are set to lose seats.

Yet, House Speaker Terie Norelli (D-Portsmouth) said that it appears Democrats will keep with House with around 220 seats, while the Republicans will end-up with around 175 seats.  The exact numbers are unclear because some towns have still not yet reported their final vote tally. The Democrats currently have 231 seats.

HOUSE PASSES FUEL ASSISTANCE BILL

 

CONCORD, N.H. – The New Hampshire House of Representatives today overwhelmingly approved special legislation adding an additional $10 million to the state’s fuel assistance program, specifically to go to those who might have the most difficulty paying heating bills this winter.

Two state representatives resign

CONCORD-- Before taking up special legislation to deal with the anticipated home heating crisis, the New Hampshire House accepted resignations from two of its members.

Embattled state Rep. Jim Ryan (D-Franklin), is under arrest for charges relating to a forgery case, officially resigned.
