Demers, Cullen react to presidential debate

Prominent supports of Barack Obama and John McCain each said that their chosen candidate had the best debate last night.

Jim Demers, Obama's New Hampshire chairman, said Obama focused on issues Americans care about, while Fergus Cullen, the New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman, said McCain demonstrated his bipartisan record.

Sununu says McCain did ‘very well’ in debate

MANCHESTER--U. S. Sen. John Sununu said that he thought Republican presidential nominee John McCain did "very well" in the second presidential debate against Barack Obama.

"John McCain did very well," Sununu told PolitickerNH.com. "He's committed to keeping taxes low and Barack Obama has promised to raise taxes."

Pawlenty ‘glad’ McCain attended debate

MANCHESTER-- Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R-Minn.) said that he was "glad" John McCain participated in the first presidential debate.

Days before the debate McCain suspended his campaign and said he would not attend the debate until a compromise was reached on a financial bailout package. McCain though announced Friday afternoon that he would attend the debate in Mississippi.

Pawlenty, who was often mentioned as a possible vice-presidential candidate, was in New Hampshire to attend a Republican unity dinner and presidential debate watch party.

Hutson calls an Obama ‘tie’ a ‘win’

MANCHESTER-- John Hutson thinks that a "tie" for Barack Obama in the presidential debate is a "win."

"To win the debate he needs to tie the debate," Hutson told PolitickerNH.com. "McCain has the upper hand advantage and I think in the end if Obama can demonstrate how thoughtful and well-informed he is on these issues he would have won."
