State Rep. Martha McLeod (D-Franconia) is running for the state senate.

McLeod will be facing current state Sen. John Gallus (R-Berlin) for the District 1 seat.

Education funding now behind the economy and taxes

Education funding which has often been the biggest concern among NH voters since 2001 has slipped behind taxes and the economy as the greatest concern among Granite State voters. Despite the bad economy numbers voters in a ratio of two to one think NH is on the right track.

AFL-CIO to canvass Manchester

The AFL-CIO will be canvassing Manchester on May 17th.

The canvass is part of a drive to reach 200,000 union members nationwide and make them aware of John McCain's economic record.

Gagne considering run against Reynolds

At the age of only 25 Ty Gagne was named the police chief of Holderness.  At the age of 38 he was named as one of the 40 Under 40 to watch by The Union Leader.  Now at the age of 39 Gagne is considering a run for against Deborah Reynolds in senate district 2.  Gagne, who is now working as a risk manager is expected to make a decision soon, but is expected to enter the race.

Group petitions for House redistricting

A group is petitioning the Merrimack County Superior Court to order the legislature to redistrict the New Hampshire House of Representatives.

The New Hampshire Legal Rights Foundation argues that the house must be redistricted to comply with the constitutional amendment that was passed in 2006.

The amendment required that each town that have 3,089 people or more, based on the 2000 census, to have one or more of its own House districts assigned to it.

The New Hampshire Advantage Coalition will announce tomorrow that they urge politicians to make an anti-spending pledge.

The goal of the "Defending the New Hampshire Advantage Pledge" is to control state spending.

Burling not a Buckey fan?

When Space Shuttle Columbia Astronaut Jay Buckey decided to run for US Senate, his home town state Senator Peter Burling never jumped on board.  Burling went one step further and stated publicly there needed to be a draft Jeanne Shaheen movement.

Martin establishes campaign website

State Senate candidate Bud Martin (D-Sandwich) has put-up a campaign website: budmartin08.com.

Martin is running in District Three on the the slogan: "It's all about the community...making it economically strong and caring."

Martin is running for the seat vacated by state Sen. Joe Kenney (R-Wakefield).
