Norelli nominated for another term at speakership

New Hampshire House Democrats overwhelmingly nominated State Rep. Terie Norelli (D-Portsmouth) for a second term has House speaker.

Norelli's nomination was supported by 185 House Democratic members while state Rep. Kris Roberts (D-Keene) gained support from 18 Democrats for his speakership bid.

House PACs report 2008 numbers

In the last election cycle, the major party House PACs spent almost the same amount of money, despite the Democrats raising more money than the Republican PAC.

The Committee to Elect House Democrats spent $88, 479 over the election cycle, while it raised $116,527. Meanwhile, the House Republican Victory PAC spent $82,025 and raised $95, 154.

Dems to keep control of House, with smaller margin

In year in which Democrats won by significant margins in statewide races, House Democrats are set to lose seats.

Yet, House Speaker Terie Norelli (D-Portsmouth) said that it appears Democrats will keep with House with around 220 seats, while the Republicans will end-up with around 175 seats.  The exact numbers are unclear because some towns have still not yet reported their final vote tally. The Democrats currently have 231 seats.

Norelli predicts Dems gain in House

CONCORD--Terie Norelli (D-Portsmouth) predicted that House Democrats are poised to gain seats in the lower-chamber.

When asked how many seats Democrats would pick-up, Norelli joked, "Well I think my prediction is gains, so more than we have."
