Shea-Porter Has Not Returned $14,000 From Charlie Rangel and accepted $5000 from a PAC currently being reviewed by FEC

Manchester, NH – 1st District Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter has taken $14,000 from embroiled New York Congressman Charles Rangel who is the subject of three ethics investigations. Shea-Porter has refused to return the funds or donate them to charity even though other Democrats have done exactly that. Now comes to light, through a complaint filed with the Federal Elections Commission, donations that Carol Shea-Porter has received from a Political Action Committee may have violated election rules.

FACT CHECK:  SHEA-PORTER FAILS LOBBYIST PURITY TEST

CONCORD, NH – In the latest DCCC ad being run in New Hampshire on behalf of embattled Rep. Carol Shea-Porter, the congresswoman repeats her claim that she does not accept campaign money from lobbyists.  But a review of Shea-Porter’s finance reports reveals that Shea-Porter has, in fact, accepted money from lobbyists.  Examples include:

Washington- Carol Shea-Porter is on the air with a new ad that is just the latest in a string of whoppers dealt to the people of New Hampshire. This time, Shea-Porter has the audacity to claim that she stands with the middle class, voting for tax cuts and refusing to take donations from lobbyists. Shea-Porter, apparently, doesn’t expect voters to do their homework, because if they did, they would discover that the claims in this ad are demonstrably false.

MANCHESTER--As Hurricane Ike bared down on the Texas coast, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama used a rally to urge people to help the hurricane victims.

The Manchester campaign rally was originally billed as a joint rally with Obama's running mate, U.S. Sen. Joe Biden, but Biden's appearance at the event was cancelled because of the hurricane.
