Turning a Blind Eye: Sununu's History on Bush Administration Spending
For eight years, Sununu has helped the Bush administration run up the national debt through no-bid contracts and wasteful spending

(Manchester, NH) - For the past eight years, John Sununu has helped George Bush run up the national debt to over $9.6 trillion, voting with Bush's budgets that expanded the deficit and voting against any oversight of contracting in Iraq, allowing no-bid contracts and rampant wasteful spending. Now that he's running for reelection, Sununu is changing his tune in an effort to cover over his record of voting 90% of the time with George Bush, and he's paying lip service to oversight on the Wall Street bailout package.

Commissioner Holden Is Taxpayer's Best Friend

To The Editor:

As a member of the Hillsborough County legislative delegation executive committee, I decided this past spring that it was important to attend the budget hearings on each and every county department.  I was the only Rep to do this but it was well worth the time and effort.  The number one thing I learned was that Commisssioner Carol Holden is best friend property taxpayers have in this county.  Since I'm from Manchester and she represents the towns, Carol is not my Commissioner, but I shudder to think how county taxpayers would suffer were she not on the job.  She is always on the lookout for more efficiencies in county spending, and I hope voters in the towns will give her the nod in the September 8 Republican primary.  Sadly her opponent, who is a current State Rep, was always voting for more and more unnecessary spending and bloated government, not in the Republican or New Hampshire tradition.

Gregg criticizes Obama programs

Discussing the 2009 Budget Conference, U.S. Sen. Judd Gregg (R-Rye) critized Democratic presidential candidate U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) for purposing new federal programs.

Chart used by U.S. Sen. Judd Gregg (R-Rye)Chart used by U.S. Sen. Judd Gregg (R-Rye)"Speaking of Senator Obama, I am entertained by the fact that this budget, which will have three-fourths of its life under the next President, must assume that the next President will not be Senator Obama," Gregg said on the Senate floor. "Because Senator Obama has proposed $300 billion of new spending in the first year of his presidency. He's proposed 187 new programs. We can only score 143 of them because the others weren't specific enough. But if you scored the 143, they added up to $300 billion of new spending just in the first year."
