Today in the U.S. Senate race

Editors note: This is a daily summary of news about the U.S. Senate race between U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley) and former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury).

While all eyes were focused on Unity, the national parties each mentioned the Senate race in a press release. Also, the Shaheen campaign announced it raised $54,152.50 in the past 24 hours.

Sununu sends out fundraising e-mail

U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley) has e-mailed supporters requesting their donate money before the ending of the filing period.

Sununu is competing against former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury) for the U.S. Senate.

Shaheen sets five-day fundraising goal

$200,000 in five days: That is the most recent fundraising goal former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury) has set for her supporters.

"Why five days? Because June 30th is the last day we can accept contributions for this reporting period," wrote Shaheen's finance director Louisa Whitney in an email to supporters. "Why $200,000? Because that's how much John Sununu's Washington attack machine is spending on negative attacks on Jeanne Shaheen."

Horn Breaks Campaign Finance Laws

Uses Tax-Exempt Organizations to Raise Campaign Cash

(Concord)  Hillsboro Republican Grant Bosse today criticized rival Jennifer Horn for using tax-exempt organizations to raise campaign funds.  Horn is having Daveed Gartenstein-Ross, Vice President of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies and Co-Chairman of the Counterterrorism Foundation, headline a political fundraiser for her campaign next week.  Both organizations are tax-exempt and barred from participating in political campaigns.

Petrones to raise money for Horn

Ambassador Joe Petrone and his wife Augusta are planning to host a fundraiser for congressional candidate Jennifer Horn (R-Nashua).

The July 1 event will feature Daveed Gartenstein-Ross, the vice president of research at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies and co-chairman of the Counterterrorism Foundation.

NRCC to target 1st CD

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) will begin to raise money for the eventual Republican nominee in the 1st Congressional District.

CongressDaily is reporting that U.S. Rep. Dave Camp (R-Mich.) has been tapped to raise money for New Hampshire.

Carson declares ‘unlimited financial and networking resources’

State Rep. Sharon Carson (R-Londonderry) said in a press release that she has "unlimited financial and networking resources" for her state senate campaign.

Carson said she will put the resources towards a primary.

"Many see Carson as not only as the strongest possible candidate in the district, she also is known to have unlimited financial and networking resources," the press release said. "Carson's campaign has made it known she is willing to loan her campaign as much of her own money as needed to get her through any possible primary race, and she is also pulling in high profile endorsements."
