Seacoast will be important for 1st CD Republicans this year
By Wally EdgeYesterday John Stephen announced his Seacoast leadership team for his 1st Congressional District primary race against former Congressman Jeb Bradley. Stephen’s announcement, which includes prominent names like Dick Flynn, Wayne Semprini and Ruth Griffin. The seacoast will very likely play a prominent roll in the primary election.
In 2002 John Stephen was strong in Manchester and its surrounding communities, but fellow conservative Sean Mahoney pulled away enough votes to keep Stephen firmly in 2nd place behind Bradley. This year Stephen should be able to pick up most of those Mahoney votes. Jeb Bradley has always been strong in the northern part of the district and there is no reason to think this year will be any different. Most Republican leaders believe Jeb Bradley will run stronger in Manchester than Stephen will in the northern towns so the seacoast becomes that much more important to Stephen.
So the battle will shift to the seacoast where Bradley has also put put together his fair share of seacoast supporters including John Lyons, Wendy Stanly Jones, along with Sheriffs Dan Linehan and Wayne Estes.
Both campaigns have been busy early shoring up their base and both seem to be spending more time now trying to lure the important seacoast voters.

I can only imagine what Bradley will look like when the Union Leader is done with him. I think they figured out how important they can be with McCain. I would expect a repeat.

The fact that Wally tried to compare people who've been effective like Flynn, Semprini and Griffin to political hangers-on like Linehan, Lyons and Jones is so darned funny I nearly peed my pants. I'd say WS Jones is a lightweight, but that would only be in the political sense as she is the farthest thing from light, if ya know what I mean. Sheesh.
