Congressman Paul Hodes sent out an email on Wednesday claiming to be a targeted seat for the Republicans. That email may have been hard for him to say with a straight face after seeing he had more than 6x as much money in the bank as his nearest Republican competitor. Hodes continues to be a tenacious fundraiser, something he has been since taking office in 2007. On Tuesday the FEC 2nd quarter numbers were posted and we learned Hodes had raised nearly $250K and had $972K on hand. His nearest competitor on the Republican side was state Senator Bob Clegg who raised $64K and finished with $156K in the bank. Even though he had a significant advantage, it is interesting to see Hodes didn’t sit on his laurels and the very next day was soliciting money via email again.

Because of the relatively small size of NH, Hodes is indeed a target of Republicans (National Party) just because his possible opponents aren't able to raise money doesn't discount the fact that he is a target of the national party, which is going to pout millions of dollars into the state in an effort to knock of CSP.
